Rejuvenate

Rejuvenate, an installation by New York based artist Melanie Fischer.  Ms. Fischer constructs a unique environment that recreates a playful natural retreat. In her installation, the artist employs fiber materials to recreate organic forms, aiming to craft a warm protective space for our minds and bodies.  Fischer’s installation at NY Studio Gallery is derived from our positive interactions with nature, pulling the viewer into an immediate visual and tactile experience.

Upon entering the gallery, the bright habitat gives visitors an immediate impression derived from early sensed childhood experiences.  Green and pink printed fabrics, Astroturf, and giant fiber plants are some of the elements in this fantasy world.  Fischer composes these environments as a visceral response to the stress of modern life.  These spaces respond to our numbed senses and the experience of being thoroughly overwhelmed with the world’s problems.
