Rachel Madden

Rachel Madden's work captures the intrinsic juxtaposition of the vegetative/physical/corporeal outer world versus the ethereal/celestial/surreal inner world of the human imagination. A cancer survivor, recovering alcoholic and mother of two, Ms. Madden's life experiences imbue her work with courage and the power of transformation. Because she uses the work as a form of meditation and focus, Ms. Madden's themes tend to have universal appeal, creating a natural emotional connection with viewers.

Rachel Madden latest painting series offer calm, earthen stalks emerging from viridian cerulean fields yearn skyward toward alizarin ochre skies often populated with floating orbs, planetary bodies and bizarre cloud formations.  The artist Hints of distant shorelines or figuration ground the works in a landscape tradition.
